Paper Birch. It's the bark (not the woof) from these trees that First Nations people used to make their boats!

While I'm off duty, Elizabeth has had to improvise on security. She caught thieving flappers stealing her sunflower seeds! She and Malcolm had to get a ladder to reach the flower heads. It was quite an operation...

  1. The birch looks really pretty. The leaves are only just beginning to change colour here. Most of the trees near us are pines and evergreen oaks, so they don’t change much!
I think they’re really going to appreciate just how much work you put into the security of the estate, Stella!

    • Yes, I think you’re right. I think they’re hiding something from me while I’m in the house. Strange things are happening in the neighbourhood. When I’m better and can check things out, I’ll let you know more!
They really do need us Clowie.
Usually our leaves are all gone by now and we’ve had a teaser snowfall. This year autumn is quite late – and very warm. 21C here today!

  2. Nice! It’s very golden here, too, but a big wind will take it all away soon, I imagine.
