A Luna Moth - Actias luna The wingspan is about 11.5 cm or 4.5 inches. They have no mouths and live only about one week during which their sole purpose is to mate and reproduce. This one looks like it was partying pretty hard last night... BOL

A Luna Moth – Actias luna The wingspan is about 11.5 cm or 4.5 inches. They have no mouths and live only about one week during which their sole purpose is to mate and reproduce. They are quite rare here. This one, a male (you can tell by the bushy antennae), looks like it was partying pretty hard last night… BOL

    • I wish his wings were fully extended. He has eyes on his lower wings, too – you can sort of see them through the upper wings in this photo. Elizabeth didn’t want to disturb his rest to try to make him spread them a bit more. We thought he looked like he needed a strong dose of R&R.
